Repurposing Structures

After moving into a 1970's structure, the South Orange County congregation hired Elements Architecture to commence work on a phased improvement that includes the renovation of a main auditorium and construction of a new two-story Christian education building. With creative input from the Landscape Architect, the site is being renovated along with the building to create a strong design statement linking new with old.

The congregation of this Evangelical Christian Church has occupied several buildings in the Aliso Viejo industrial business center for over ten years. The master plan which will be built over the next two years includes a new building (Compass Bible Institute), the site addition of a large fellowship courtyard and expansion of the Worship Center and Education buildings.

Elements Architecture designed a renovation of the existing building to match the prototype of this dealership.

The design called for a completely new facility with greater functionality inside and out that was accomplished without any major structural improvements.

Bustling with activity on the weekends, the facility supports Christian activities of all kinds. Youth / children’s programs and Spanish speaking church services complement the 1,000 seat auditorium. A 40,000 SF “big box” retail building was the perfect backdrop to a new facade that encloses a courtyard space transition into the lobby / café / bookstore.
